Fake Teep
Feints
Lift the knee as if teeping to freeze them in place, then step in behind the reaction.
How to throw it
Lift the knee as if you are teeping, which freezes them in place expecting the push, then step in behind that reaction instead of extending the foot. Keep your posture upright and balanced on the standing leg so you can drive forward the instant they hesitate. Sell the knee lift cleanly so the threat of the teep does the work.
When to use it
Fake the teep to stall the opponent's forward movement and buy yourself the space to step in behind their pause. It is a way to close distance on a pressuring fighter by using their respect for the teep against them.
Common mistakes
- Barely lifting the knee, so the teep threat is not real enough to freeze them
- Committing to a full extension instead of holding the knee up to fake
- Losing balance on the standing leg and being unable to step in off the reaction
