Rear Spinning Elbow

Elbows · Rear side (Orthodox right, Southpaw left)

Spin toward the lead shoulder and land the rear elbow with full rotation behind it (sok klap).

How to throw it

Pivot on your lead foot and spin toward your lead shoulder, bringing the rear elbow all the way around with full hip and shoulder rotation behind it (sok klap). Turn your head early to locate the target, then let the momentum of the spin, not your arm, deliver the elbow to the head. Keep it compact and land balanced so you can follow up or recover guard immediately.

When to use it

Use it as a powerful surprise counter when an opponent steps back or circles toward your rear side, or to cap a combination that has already turned them. The full rotation makes it heavy, so it rewards a committed, well-timed read rather than a speculative throw.

Common mistakes

  • Losing sight of the opponent during the turn, which turns a heavy strike into a wild miss.
  • Throwing the elbow with the arm ahead of the hips so the rotation never loads into the strike.
  • Finishing off balance or too far past the target, giving up your back if it misses.
