Jab → Cross → Switch Kick

Intermediate

Jab, Cross, Switch Kick closes the distance with hands and finishes with a switch kick disguised by the punches. The momentum of the cross hides the switch, so the kick arrives to the body or head before it is read.

What this combo trains

This combo trains you to mask a switch kick inside the flow of straight punches. The jab and cross close the range and give your opponent something to defend up high. As the cross turns you over, the feet switch under that momentum and fire the lead leg with rear-leg power. You develop the disguise and timing that let a switch kick land against an opponent watching your hands.

Step by step

  1. 1.
    Jab

Lead with the jab to find range and lift the guard. Keep it sharp so it flows into the cross.

  2. 2.
    Cross

Drive the cross off the rear hand with hip rotation, closing distance and turning your body over. That turn hides the switch that follows.

  3. 3.
    Switch Kick

Switch the feet under the cross's momentum and fire the lead leg with rear-leg power, into the body or head. The switch is masked, so the kick lands before they react.

Common mistakes

  • Making an obvious, slow switch that telegraphs the kick and undoes the disguise.
  • Letting the cross finish and settle before switching, so the momentum that hides the switch is gone.
  • Switching without turning the hip through, leaving the lead kick weak.
  • Dropping the hands during the switch and exposing the head as you load the kick.

Who it suits

An intermediate combo for fighters who can already throw a switch kick under pressure. It works from orthodox or southpaw because the app mirrors every left and right to your stance.

Why it works

Punches to close, then a lead-leg switch kick to the body or head. The switch is disguised by the momentum of the cross.
