Jab → Cross → Lead Hook → Rear Low Kick
IntermediateJab, Cross, Lead Hook, Rear Low Kick takes the classic 1-2-3 and finishes it downstairs. The hook drags the guard across the body, and the low kick lands on the side you just opened.
What this combo trains
This sequence trains you to chain straight punches into a hook and then convert that hand work into a leg attack. The hook pulls the opponent's guard across, which exposes the lead leg for the finish. You develop the flow from long-range straights to a close hook to a full-power kick, learning to move a guard before you attack behind it.
Step by step
- 1.Jab
Lead with a sharp jab to measure distance and lift the guard. It sets the rhythm for the straight punches to follow.
- 2.Cross
Fire the cross off the rear hand with hip rotation, driving weight forward and pushing the opponent to defend the centreline.
- 3.Lead Hook
Turn the lead hook over with the elbow up, rotating the lead hip through so the punch drags the guard across their body.
- 4.Rear Low Kick
Chop the rear low kick into the exposed lead thigh, swinging through with the hip. The hook has pulled their defence across, so the leg is open.
Common mistakes
- Reaching with the hook instead of turning the lead hip, so it never moves the guard across for the kick.
- Loading the low kick before the hook lands, telegraphing the finish.
- Standing tall through the punches and losing the weight transfer the kick relies on.
- Rushing the four strikes so they blur together and the hook never actually opens the side.
Who it suits
An intermediate combo for anyone comfortable linking straight punches into a hook. It runs from orthodox or southpaw because the app mirrors every left and right to your stance.
Why it works
The classic 1-2-3 extended with a kick. The hook pulls the opponent's guard across, and the kick lands on the exposed side.
