Lead Parry → Cross → Lead Body Kick
IntermediateThis is a defensive counter that flows straight into offence. You deflect their punch, answer down the middle, and let the cross wind you up for the body kick.
What this combo trains
The combo builds counter-timing and the habit of turning defence into attack without a reset. The parry opens their right side, the cross rotates your hips through, and that same rotation feeds directly into the lead body kick, so you learn to link the punch and the kick as one continuous turn. It develops sharp weight transfer and the ability to attack multiple levels off a single defensive read.
Step by step
- 1.Lead Parry
Meet their straight punch with a small lead-hand movement, deflecting it off line rather than swatting hard; keep it tight so their right side opens and your stance stays loaded.
- 2.Cross
Fire the cross straight down the middle into the space the parry created, driving it with rear-hip rotation so the shoulders turn fully through the target.
- 3.Lead Body Kick
Ride that rotation straight into the lead roundhouse, swinging the shin into the ribs or open side while the momentum from the cross is still carrying you around.
Common mistakes
- Over-parrying and pushing the punch too far across, which turns your shoulders away from the cross and kills the counter before it starts.
- Pausing between the cross and the kick; the rotation from the punch is what loads the kick, so a stall means starting the leg from zero.
- Slapping the body kick in with the leg only instead of turning the hip through, so it lands soft and off balance.
- Dropping the lead hand after the parry and leaving the head exposed while you commit to the cross.
Who it suits
An intermediate combo for anyone comfortable countering off a parry. It works from both orthodox and southpaw because the app mirrors every left and right to your stance.
Why it works
The parry opens their right side, and the counter-cross rotates you into the kick.
