Cross → Lead Hook → Rear Kick

Intermediate

Cross, Lead Hook, Rear Kick is a pure power sequence built on rotation. The cross winds you into the hook, and the hook winds you into the rear kick, so momentum carries from one strike to the next.

What this combo trains

This combo develops continuous hip rotation and the ability to convert punch momentum into a kick. The cross rotates you one way, the hook rotates you back, and that recoil loads the rear kick. You learn to keep the chain flowing off the hips rather than resetting between strikes, which is what makes all three land with weight behind them.

Step by step

  1. 1.
    Cross

Open with the cross off the rear hand, driving hip rotation and weight forward. That rotation sets up the swing back into the hook.

  2. 2.
    Lead Hook

Turn the lead hook over with the elbow up, rotating the lead hip through. The recoil from this rotation loads the rear side for the kick.

  3. 3.
    Rear Kick

Fire the rear kick through with the hip, letting the momentum from the hook carry it. The whole combo flows off one continuous chain of rotation.

Common mistakes

  • Resetting your stance between strikes, which kills the rotational momentum that makes this combo work.
  • Throwing the cross flat-footed so there is no hip turn to feed the hook.
  • Muscling the rear kick separately instead of letting the hook's rotation load it.
  • Dropping the guard through the sequence as you commit to power on every strike.

Who it suits

An intermediate power combo for fighters who can already chain rotation across strikes. It works from orthodox or southpaw because the app mirrors every left and right to your stance.

Why it works

A power combo. The cross rotates you into the hook, and the hook rotates you into the rear kick, so the whole thing flows off hip rotation.
