Rear Side Knee → Lead Side Knee → Rear Horizontal Elbow
IntermediateRear Side Knee, Lead Side Knee, Rear Horizontal Elbow is clinch work you can drill on the bag: two curving knees into the open side, then release and cut the elbow across as the head comes up.
What this combo trains
This combination builds clinch power, hip torque, and the transition from knees to elbows. Two curving knees swing into the open side with a hip twist, wearing on the body, then you release the grip and cut the rear elbow across the jaw or brow as their head lifts. It trains the rhythm of alternating knees and then finishing with a short weapon at close range.
Step by step
- 1.Rear Side Knee
Drive the rear knee in a curving arc into the open side, twisting the hip from the clinch to put weight behind it.
- 2.Lead Side Knee
Follow immediately with the lead knee, arcing it around into the ribs or thigh with the same hip-twisting drive.
- 3.Rear Horizontal Elbow
Release the grip and cut the horizontal rear elbow (sok ti) across the jaw or brow as their head comes up from the knees.
Common mistakes
- Throwing the knees straight up the middle instead of curving them into the open side.
- Powering the knees from the leg alone without twisting the hip through the clinch.
- Holding the clinch grip while trying to elbow, which jams the elbow short.
- Cutting the elbow before the head rises, missing the target it was set up for.
