Slip Lead → Cross → Lead Hook → Rear Low Kick
IntermediateHead movement here is not an exit, it is an entry. You slip outside their jab, stay in the pocket, and unload a three-punch answer that finishes on the leg.
What this combo trains
This combo trains defensive slipping that keeps you in striking range rather than resetting out. Slipping to your lead side buys a free angle outside their jab, the cross and lead hook capitalise on that position, and the rear low kick closes the sequence with a chopping strike that wins fights round by round. It develops in-pocket composure, hand-to-leg linking, and the discipline to punch off head movement instead of backing away.
Step by step
- 1.Slip Lead
Slip your head to the lead side, moving outside their jab; keep the weight centred so you are loaded to fire rather than leaning away.
- 2.Cross
Come straight back with the cross off the rear hand, driving hip rotation into the opening the slip created.
- 3.Lead Hook
Turn the lead hip through on the hook, elbow up, using the shoulder turn from the cross to whip it around into the head.
- 4.Rear Low Kick
Chop the rear kick low into their lead thigh, sitting into it so the shin bites; this is the strike that stacks up damage round by round.
Common mistakes
- Slipping too wide or too low so you drift out of range and lose the free angle the combo depends on.
- Standing tall after the slip instead of loading the legs, which leaves nothing behind the cross.
- Throwing the hook with the arm only; without turning the lead hip through it has no snap.
- Telegraphing the low kick by dropping the hands or squaring up before you commit to the leg.
Who it suits
An intermediate sequence for fighters building counter-punching off head movement. It works from both orthodox and southpaw because the app mirrors every left and right to your stance.
Why it works
Head movement buys a free angle while keeping you in striking range rather than resetting.
