Jab → Lead Body Hook → Lead Hook → Rear Low Kick

Intermediate

Jab to Lead Body Hook to Lead Hook to Rear Low Kick works top to bottom off one hand. The body shot pulls the elbows down and roots their feet, setting up the hook upstairs and the low kick below.

What this combo trains

This combination trains layered lead-hand work that ends on the leg. The jab enters, the lead body hook forces the elbows down and drags weight forward so their guard drops and their feet plant, the lead hook comes back upstairs into the exposed head, and the rear low kick finishes on planted legs that cannot check. It develops digging to the body, doubling the lead hand high and low, and reading the moment the base is stuck.

Step by step

  1. 1.
    Jab

Snap the jab off the lead hand to enter and start their guard reacting high.

  2. 2.
    Lead Body Hook

Dig the lead body hook into the ribs or liver, forcing their elbows down and their weight forward.

  3. 3.
    Lead Hook

With the guard now low, bring the lead hook back upstairs, elbow up and lead hip turning through into the head.

  4. 4.
    Rear Low Kick

Their legs are planted from the body work, so chop the rear low kick into the lead thigh they cannot lift to check.

Common mistakes

  • Throwing the body hook flat instead of digging in and down, so the elbows and weight never drop.
  • Standing upright through the body shot rather than bending at the knees to load it.
  • Rushing the high hook before the guard has actually dropped, so it runs into their hands.
  • Kicking after they have reset their feet instead of while the legs are still planted.

Who it suits

An intermediate combination for orthodox or southpaw, since the app mirrors every side to your stance. It suits fighters who like to work the body and want a high-low finish on the leg.

Why it works

The body shot forces the elbows down and the weight forward; the guard is low and the legs are planted.
