Jab → Cross → Lead Body Hook → Lead Hook

Intermediate

This four-punch sequence sets up behind straight shots and finishes with a double hook: the body hook pulls the rear elbow down to cover, and the head hook goes through the gap it leaves.

What this combo trains

Jab, Cross, Lead Body Hook, Lead Hook builds your ability to chain straight and hooking punches and to hunt with the same hand twice at two heights. The jab and cross occupy the guard and get you into range, then the body hook drags the rear elbow down and the head hook exploits the opening above it. It sharpens combination endurance and the coordination to double up the lead hand cleanly.

Step by step

  1. 1.
    Jab

Snap the jab out to find range and pin the guard, keeping your rear hand home.

  2. 2.
    Cross

Fire the cross straight down the middle off the rear hand, driven by hip rotation, to close the distance and hold their attention high.

  3. 3.
    Lead Body Hook

Dip and dig the lead body hook into the ribs or liver, pulling the rear elbow down to cover the body.

  4. 4.
    Lead Hook

Come straight back up with a second lead hook to the head through the gap the dropped elbow left, turning the lead hip through with the elbow up.

Common mistakes

  • Throwing both hooks at the same height, so the finish never draws the elbow down and lands on nothing new.
  • Dropping the lead hand low after the body hook so it is slow to reload for the head hook.
  • Rushing the cross so you are out of position and off balance by the time the hooks come.
  • Failing to rotate the hip on the second hook, turning the finish into an arm punch.

Who it suits

An intermediate combo for fighters building longer punch chains in the pocket. It works from both orthodox and southpaw because the app mirrors every left and right to your stance.

Why it works

The double-hook finish: the body shot pulls the rear elbow down to cover, and the head hook goes through the spot it left.
