Jab → Body Cross → Lead Hook

Intermediate

Jab to Body Cross to Lead Hook works the head and body on a loop: the jab covers your level change, the cross digs into the midsection, and the hook comes back upstairs as they fold over the body shot.

What this combo trains

This combo trains your level changes and your ability to attack top and bottom in one flowing sequence. The jab occupies the guard while you dip, the body cross buries into the midsection, and folding them over that shot brings the head down into range for the hook. It builds coordination between straight and hooking punches across two heights.

Step by step

  1. 1.
    Jab

Snap the jab out to find range and occupy the guard, using it to screen the level change that follows.

  2. 2.
    Body Cross

Dip your level and drive the body cross straight into the midsection off the rear hand, digging in as your weight rolls forward.

  3. 3.
    Lead Hook

As they fold over the body shot, turn the lead hip through and bring the lead hook up and across into the lowered head, elbow up.

Common mistakes

  • Standing tall on the body cross instead of dipping the level, so it lands soft and leaves your head high.
  • Losing the jab entirely and telegraphing the dip, which lets them see the body shot coming.
  • Staying low after the body cross rather than coming up with the hook, so the finish never reaches the head.
  • Reaching the hook out instead of rotating the hip through, which strips its power on the return upstairs.

Who it suits

An intermediate high-low combo for fighters comfortable changing levels in the pocket. It works from both orthodox and southpaw because the app mirrors every left and right to your stance.

Why it works

The jab covers the drop, the cross digs into the midsection, and the hook comes back up to the head as they fold over the body shot.
