Double Jab → Weave Lead → Lead Hook

Intermediate

This combo turns a defensive weave into a loaded punch. You jab twice to draw the return, dip under it, and rise on your lead side with the hook ready to fire.

What this combo trains

The sequence builds the link between head movement and counter-punching. The double jab occupies the opponent and invites a counter hook, the weave takes you under it and brings you up on the lead side in position to fire, and the lead hook lands as you rise, already loaded by the dip. It develops rhythm, defensive reading, and the ability to punch straight out of a weave without a wind-up.

Step by step

  1. 1.
    Jab

Snap the first jab to find the range, keeping it straight and quick as the range-finder that starts the sequence.

  2. 2.
    Jab

Follow with the second jab to keep them occupied and bait the counter, staying balanced behind it.

  3. 3.
    Weave Lead

Dip under their return hook and come up on your lead side, letting the weave coil the lead hip so the hook is loaded.

  4. 4.
    Lead Hook

Come up firing the lead hook off that coiled hip, elbow up, turning the lead hip through into the target as you rise.

Common mistakes

  • Weaving on the spot without moving your head off the centreline, so you dip straight back into the counter.
  • Standing up out of the weave before throwing, which unloads the hip and drains the hook of power.
  • Throwing lazy jabs that do not commit, so the opponent never counters and there is nothing to weave under.
  • Winding the hook up wide after the weave instead of letting the rising hip whip it straight through.

Who it suits

An intermediate boxing-style combo for fighters comfortable punching off head movement. It works from both orthodox and southpaw because the app mirrors every left and right to your stance.

Why it works

Weave under their counter off the double jab and come up with the hook already loaded.
