Lead Teep → Cross
EasyLead Teep, Cross is a cornerstone of Thai-style range fighting. The push kick manages distance and steals balance, then you close with the cross while the opponent is still resetting.
What this combo trains
This combo trains distance control and the timing of following a teep with a committed punch. The lead teep, the jab of the legs, keeps the opponent at the range you want and knocks them off balance. As they recover, the cross follows into the gap, teaching you to attack the moment an opponent is unsettled rather than waiting for them to reset.
Step by step
- 1.Lead Teep
Fire the lead teep off your front leg into the opponent to control distance and push them off balance. Retract the leg cleanly so you can plant and punch.
- 2.Cross
Follow with the cross off the rear hand, driving hip rotation as you close the gap. Throw it while they are still recovering their balance from the teep.
Common mistakes
- Leaving the teep leg out too long so you cannot plant and fire the cross in time.
- Pushing the teep so hard it drives the opponent out of range for the cross.
- Falling backward after the teep instead of stepping in behind the punch.
- Throwing the cross before your foot is planted, so there is no hip drive behind it.
