Fake Cross → Lead Body Hook → Overhand

Advanced

This is a two-level trap: a fake cross that climbs the guard, a lead body hook underneath it, and an overhand looping over the top once the elbows drop to cover. It plays the opponent's own reactions against them.

What this combo trains

Fake Cross to Lead Body Hook to Overhand trains your feinting and your ability to read and exploit a reacting guard. Selling the rear hand pulls the guard up so the body hook can dig in under the elbows, and when those elbows drop to protect the ribs you loop the overhand over the space they left. It sharpens level changes, deception, and the discipline to make a feint look like the real thing.

Step by step

  1. 1.
    Fake Cross

Sell the rear hand convincingly, showing the cross so their guard climbs, then take what it leaves open below rather than committing the punch.

  2. 2.
    Lead Body Hook

Dig the lead body hook into the ribs or liver under the elbows the fake just lifted, dropping your level and turning into it.

  3. 3.
    Overhand

As the elbows drop to cover the body, loop the overhand off the rear hand over the top of their guard and down onto the head.

Common mistakes

  • Making the fake cross look like a fake, so the guard never climbs and the body hook meets an intact defence.
  • Standing upright on the body hook instead of bending the knees and dropping level to get under the elbows.
  • Throwing the overhand flat like a cross rather than looping it over the top, so it runs into the guard.
  • Rushing the three beats together so the opponent never has time to react and open the intended gaps.

Who it suits

An advanced combo that rewards timing and deception over raw output. It works from both orthodox and southpaw because the app mirrors every left and right to your stance.

Why it works

Sell the rear hand so the guard climbs, dig the hook in under the elbows it lifted, and when the elbows drop to cover, loop the overhand over the top.
